Pittsburgh Airport is struggling in the face of cutbacks from base airline US Airways (recently merged with America West), who currently only offer transatlantic flights through their Philadelphia hub. Other connecting flights to Pittsburgh are available through Atlantic Seaboard cities such as New York or Washington , DC . It is generally better to avoid connecting flights to Pittsburgh via Chicago , as this involves turning back on a needless dogleg route, in addition to having to negotiate O'Hare's crowded terminals.
