Miami is also a major cruise port and an important transfer for flights to the Caribbean. If you wanted to get to the Bahamas for example, it is often cheaper to fly via Miami than go direct.

CSI: Miami holds firm on television, while the big-screen interpretation of 80s cop show Miami Vice paired Colin Farrell with Jamie Foxx, currently two of Hollywood's hottest properties. To paraphrase the poet formerly known as the Fresh Prince of Bel Air, it wouldn't be a surprise to encounter Sylvester Stallone himself in one of the city's nightclubs. Yet Miami isn't solely about air-headed celebrity worship. It's as multicultural as it is cultured - which means, once behind the velvet rope, you're as likely to bump into Puff Daddy as you are Paris Hilton. (You win some, you lose some.) That multiculturalism can be witnessed, away from the glitz and glamour, out on the streets of Miami's Little Havana or Little Haiti. The city's location (and year-round warm climate) makes it a haven - a paradise, even - for the restless and/or rootless. Not that these refugees from reality haven't given anything back over the years. A visit to either the Miami Art Museum or Latin American Art Museum will demonstrate just how vital Cubans in particular have been to the city's development. And Miami goes big on culturally-significant 'Districts': check out Miami Beach's Art-Deco Historical District or the Buena Vista neighbourhood's International Arts and Design District. But, of course, Miami's real calling is to party. South Beach (known as SoBe, for those slackers who can't be bothered with all ten letters) would appear to be where it's at right now. One of Miami's considerable advantages as a location is providing enviable sunspots within which to sleep off any excess. Sunbathing in all states of undress is permitted, but be sure to check beforehand where nudity is permitted - for fear of being caught red-cheeked by the real Miami Vice&

If I want to get things done, I just unplug my modem and put it in another room. In this weather, will need to deflate bike tyres too!
