Ryanair resumes flights to Budapest

on Wednesday, 25 January 2012. Posted in News

Ryanair has announced plans to re-launch flights to Budapest from the UK this spring.

The Irish no-frills airline will offer flights from Birmingham, Bristol and London Stansted to the Hungarian capital from March.

Ryanair first started flights to Budapest in 2005, but pulled out of the airport in 2010 after a spat over handling charges.

There are currently no other airlines operating Budapest flights from Birmingham or Bristol, but Ryanair will face stiff competition on the London route. No-frills rival easyJet serves Budapest from Gatwick and Luton, Wizz Air offers flights from Luton, Hungarian national airline Malev flies from Gatwick, and British Airways operates services from Heathrow.

This is really good to see, I look forward to booking my Budapest flights from Birmingham. Do you think they will start more flights to Prague aswell now?

I doubt it, I think they will wait to see if Vodochody is turned into a low cost airport. Wizzair still offer cheap flights to Prague from Luton.
