On 11th of June, a new railway station will open at Cologne-Bonn airport. This will bring Germany's super-fast ICE trains, as well as local commuter services, to the airport.
With Dusseldorf and Frankfurt also having recently opened high-speed ICE stations to supplement their existing commuter rail services, the Rhine-Ruhr region is now not only very easy to get to; it is also even easier to get around.
Cologne itself is currently a 20 minute bus journey from Cologne-Bonn airport, or around 40 minutes by train from Dusseldorf airport. Although this rail station will cut in half the journey time between Cologne-Bonn airport and the city of Cologne, the real benefits will be the connections it provides through to other cities in the region.
