Airport protesters suspend website

Campaigners against the expansion of Coventry Airport have pulled the plug on their campaign website, blaming "unacceptable harassment and intimidation".
Lia Border, 36, of the Campaign Against the Expansion of Coventry Airport (Caeca) said the website had been suspended for the time being, but refused to say why.
A message on the website reads: "Due to unacceptable harassment and intimidation, it has been decided to suspend this website.
"Many thanks to all who supported our campaign in our attempt to save our villages from the increasing threat of noise and pollution."
The move comes as it was revealed that Coventry Airport supporter James Avery, 28, has set up a website with an almost identical address, to challenge protesters' views.
Mr Avery, a web designer from Chapelfields, Coventry, named his site caeca.org.uk, very similar to the protesters' website, caeca.co.uk.
Mrs Border said: "If Mr Avery wishes to set up a website, he is entitled to do so.
"We would rather concentrate on dealing with the real issues, such as the environmental impact being caused by the interim passenger facilities.
"That is the noise, traffic and pollution which the airport continues to refuse to take responsibility for."
Mr Avery said: "I chose the name so when people search for their [the protestors'] site, they will come across my site first."
He added: "Using the Internet is a great way of getting a level playing field and they [the protesters] are just clutching at straws.
"I've repeatedly asked them to justify their points. They are not prepared to say where they fly from and how often they fly, yet they criticise Thomson and the airport."
