The secrets of ancient Egypt move a step closer to the Midlands as Birmingham International Airport (BIA) adds two new holiday destinations to its schedule - Luxor, in the heart of Egypt, and Sharm el Sheikh which lies on the banks of the Red Sea.

The Luxor service begins on 3rd November and carries on through into Summer next year with flights departing each Wednesday. Both Thomson and Thomas Cook will offer holidays to this popular tourist destination built on the 4,000-year old site of the ancient capital Thebes. Luxor is close both to the Valley of the Kings and the Valley of the Queens, which house over 700 tombs including the tomb of Tutankhamun.

First Choice will offer holidays to Sharm el Sheikh from next Summer. Starting on 5th May there will be weekly flights each Thursday. Sharm el Sheikh is a beautiful, bustling area surrounded by sea and mountains. It also provides a gateway to the Red Sea Riviera which offers some of the best scuba diving and snorkelling in the world.
