Newcastle International is set to unveil its new £7 million terminal extension on Wednesday 11 August. The extension, which adds an additional 3,000 square metres of space to the terminal building, is part of a wider redevelopment programme to greatly improve the quality and range of facilities offered to passengers in the airport's Departure Lounge.

Management at the airport believe the extension and redevelopment will transform Newcastle International into one of the best regional airports in Europe, offering travellers a much greater quality and range of facilities in a spacious and relaxing environment. The extension doubles the size of the departure lounge, with a floor to ceiling glazed frontage giving holidaymakers uninterrupted views of the runway.
