Birmingham International Airport has welcomed news that Alitalia will launch a new base at Birmingham from 1st November 2004 serving Milan Malpensa Airport daily.
The service will depart from Birmingham each morning at 09:55, arriving in Milan at 12:55. The return flight will leave Milan at 21:00 and will arrive back into Birmingham at 22:05.
Peter Vella, Birmingham Airport's Business Development Director said, "We are delighted to welcome Alitalia to Birmingham Airport. Milan Malpensa Airport is one of Alitalia's major hubs, offering a strong domestic route network across Italy as well as long haul services throughout Eastern Europe, Africa, the Americas, the Middle East and the Indian sub-continent.
"Overall, this is another great development for Birmingham Airport and will provide even greater choice for business and leisure travellers in the Midlands."
The new two hour service will operate from Terminal Two at BIA, and will be served by a MD80 aircraft.
Economy fares start from £106* and Business Class fares from £344*.
*Fares are return and include all taxes.
