Germanwings to operate Stuttgart flights from Heathrow
Lufthansa's no-frills subsidiary Germanwings is set to takeover the London Heathrow to Stuttgart route from another of the German national airline's offshoots, LH CityLine.
Germanwings will take on the route next month using Airbus A319 aircraft based at Stuttgart. Lufthansa said the frequency of flights from Heathrow to Stuttgart will remain the same although there will be some changes to flight times. Germanwings will be one of only two budget airlines operating flights from Heathrow, the other being Spanish operator Vueling.
A Lufthansa spokesman said: "The new timetable with optimal departure times is ideally suited to customer demand."
The Stuttgart flights will be bookable both through Germanwings and Lufthansa.

Next thing, I will wake up to find Ryanair's 51st base is Heathrow - please no!

Do you pay for your own flights?

As it happens, yes I do pay for my own flights - but I look for value not the cheapest. I live in Oxford and don't drive, so I'd need to see £50 off the fare at least to even consider trundling over to Stansted, even more for a peak fare!

Have you not seen on the news today about the chaos at Heathrow? Too many passengers apparently? You couldn't make it up!
At least arriving at Birmingham is nice and smooth - better with Flybe than Ryanair as you can take your time on a Q400 but please don't pretend that Heathrow is a nice airport to use!

I really don't see what the fuss is about, Germanwings are a perfectly good airline, and Stuttgart is not a hub at the same level as Frankfurt or Munich so through connections are not a big deal. I'm perfectly happy with their flights to Stuttgart - but if you want frequency of service and full service, fly to Frankfurt and take the train.
