Flights to Tripoli – BA return in May

British Airways (BA) will be resuming flights to Tripoli from London this summer following the downfall of the Gadaffi regime.

BA will offer three flights a week from London Heathrow to the Libyan capital on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays from May 1.

The decision to reinstate the flights followed a "thorough security review" involving the British government and the new Libyan authorities, bosses said.

BA chief executive, Keith Williams, said: "Our flights to Tripoli have provided a vital economic link for many years, and it is good news for everyone that we can now restart operations."
