Heathrow airport's managing director is to leave his job nearly two months after the disastrous opening of the new Terminal 5.
Heathrow operator BAA said Mark Bullock, who has held the post since 2004, had “chosen to leave” in the light of recent management-level changes.
The fallout from the disastrous opening of Terminal 5 has already resulted in the departure of senior British Airways executives Gareth Kirkwood and David Noyes.
Bullock will be replaced in September by the current chief operating officer of London Underground, Mike Brown, BAA said in a statement.
BAA chief executive, Colin Matthews, said: “Mark Bullock has made a significant contribution to BAA and to Heathrow Airport in particular and has led the airport through a particularly challenging period.”
Hundreds of flights had to be delayed or cancelled following the shambolic opening of the £4.3 billion terminal on March 27.
