  How come there aren't more flights to Groningen? Just Aberdeen seems ridiculous, surely there are people in London wanting to go there, contrary to what people think, it is some way from Amsterdam, a totally different deal compared to Rotterdam.

    It is the usual combination of supply and demand, together with route politics. Ryanair have offered Groningen flights in the past, but they clearly weren't offered suitable incentives to stay there. Rotterdam is a much bigger city, and it also acts as airport for the Hague. Although Schiphol is only 27 minutes from Rotterdam by train, you still need to get from the runway to the terminal, and then it can be a 20 minute additional walk from terminal to train station if you are on one of the more remote stands.
    
    So Rotterdam airport still has a big convenience bonus for people who use it, combined with the substantial latent demand.

  I have a potential meeting with a client to go to in Rotterdam in January, and was wondering if it is better to use Rotterdam Airport, rather than Amsterdam, which has many more flight options. I live in Southend, but easyJet's route won't have started by then.

    Martin - in a word, yes! The advantage of using Rotterdam airport isn't just that it is closer to where you want to be, it is also much much smaller, therefore the plane will land and go direct to the terminal, and it won't spend hours taxiing. You can then transfer straight to a waiting taxi, instead of walking upto a mile through the terminal to get to the train station.
    
    Once easyJet start the route, the balance will probably tip back to Amsterdam - the train service direct from the terminal takes just 27 minutes to get to Rotterdam.

  One disadvantage I've found with using Southampton airport is that Amsterdam flights tend to be on the expensive side. Do you think there is any chance of easyJet or anyone else starting cheap flights to Amsterdam from Bournemouth?

    I very much doubt it, the market for flights to Amsterdam is fairly mature - those cities that have routes should keep them, very few new developments will happen, apart from Southend, which is a new terminal. KLM have retreated from Liverpool. easyJet have not announced UK - Amsterdam flights in a long while, and they only seem to operate ski flights into airports like Bournemouth. I can only suggest planning your trips well in advance, as Flybe can have good deals like any other airline. Otherwise, make do with London airports.

  I preferred it when your Holland flights map let you hover on each airport - it is fine to show the routes like this for countries with only one or two airports, but when you have four airports, and so many flights to Amsterdam, I think it would be better to make it interactive.

    Michael, thankyou for the feedback, yes I agree it does look a bit cluttered when you are trying to look at routes from airports outside Amsterdam. I will update this map again in a week or so, and I will consider an interactive version on that update.

    You can click on any of the cities on the map to view flights by city (flights to Amsterdam, Eindhoven etc).
    
    Linking between country and maps pages is something we'll look into doing, I agree it would be useful. Remember that you can also view all flight routes from any UK airport, and then narrow down by country, or by city - including, for example, flights to Paris, which you can refine to show all Paris airports together, or just Orly etc.
