  I've never been to Italy, and would like to spend a week touring round, seeing all the great sites - Venice, Rome, Pisa etc.
  
  What's the best place to fly into / from for this?

    That is a bit ambitious for such a great country - how long have you spend travelling around the UK?
    
    If you are going to do such a trip, base yourself in Florence. I did that a few years ago. Where is your closest UK airport?
