Flight Summary

Getting to this particular corner of England is very time consuming by car or rail, so Newquay Airport should be able to sustain at the very least a decent range of domestic flights across the UK. However, a mixture of bad luck – namely the demise of Air Southwest – and a major own goal – the introduction of a hugely unpopular £5 per passenger airport development fee – has stifled growth at Newquay.

James Says

In 2006 Newquay Airport introduced their airport development fee. The fee is not included in the ticket price and has to be paid by all passengers over the age of 16 at the point of departure.

In my opinion there is absolutely no justification for such fees. Can you imagine if your local supermarket added a fiver to your bill so they could expand the store? If an airport cannot sustain its business from standard airline charges then it should not be operating.

Feeling pretty knackered after my trip to Canada and back this afternoon. Canada was very disappointing but the journey was amazing ;)
