RT @travelmedia: @JetBlue unveils @RedSox-themed plane http://t.co/ovX00k6E (but surely they'd rather rename them the BlueSox too ;)
All direct flights from London City
Flight Summary
A firm favourite with Flightmapping due to its dramatic riverside location and super-quick turnaround times, London City is the gateway to the Docklands.
Destination Summary
London City is the closest airport to London's business hubs, The City and Docklands. Not surprisingly flights from London City tend to focus on European business destinations such as Frankfurt and Zurich, although a small range of leisure routes have opened up in recent years. London City is also the only airport in the UK currently offering business class-only flights to New York.

I don't think you can beat flying down the Thames from the west end of London and into City Airport. The list of landmarks you'll see if you are lucky enough to be sitting on the left side of the plane is endless.

I recently flew from Rotterdam to London City and timed how long it took from the moment we touched down until I was standing on the DLR platform. I thought I would have been slowed down by having luggage in the hold, but I still managed it in just seven minutes. Mind you, all my good work was undone by forgetting to swipe my Oyster Card before getting on the train. The ticket inspector chose not to fine me, instead telling me to get off at the next stop, swipe my card and get on the next train, losing me a precious ten minutes!

What sets London City apart, apart from the blisteringly fast security, is the amazing views of our glorious capital that you get on take off and landing - an airport which affords fine views in both directions is indeed as rare as fine wine.
The terminal itself is a rather mediocre concoction built on strictly utilitarian principles, and catering isn't exactly Raymond Blanc, but it is still adequate.
I have used BA's New York flights once or twice, but I think this is over-rated - yes, you skip the rif-raff, but you then have to suffer the dainty patter of over-confident security staff in Shannon. I'd rather just do direct from Terminal 5 for that one. However, my regular jaunts are to Zurich and Frankfurt, aswell as domestic hops to Edinburgh - in that respect, City is excellent.
