Caracas's Simon Bolivar Airport was my first experience of South America. This was back in 1999, and I was swamped by taxi touts as soon as I walked into the arrivals hall. I decided instead to brave the local buses, without realising I'd be in for an eye opening tour of the vast shanty towns that cling to the mountains on the 15 mile journey from the airport into central Caracas.

Feeling pretty knackered after my trip to Canada and back this afternoon. Canada was very disappointing but the journey was amazing ;)
