Flight summary
Regular direct flights from the UK are available to both of the islands that make up Trinidad and Tobago.
The recently upgraded Piarco airport, which is located east of Trinidad and Tobago's capital Port of Spain is one of the most important aviation hubs in the Caribbean, being the base of Caribbean Airlines and a major hub for LIAT.
Heavy industry, a lack of easily accessible beaches and a reputation for violent crime have meant tourism is not as developed in Trinidad as it is on other Caribbean islands (including Tobago) - although the whole world seems to descend on Port of Spain during carnival season.
British Airways is the only airline to operate direct flights from London to Port of Spain. Flights to Tobago are more widely available, with British Airways, Monarch and Virgin Atlantic competing on this route.

I remember flying with 'Bewee' (BWIA) when they had a non-stop flight to Port of Spain from Heathrow, but most of the time they too routed you via Barbados or Antigua.
I guess that is the price you pay for being at the end of such a beautiful chain of islands!
