Flight summary
Although there are no direct flights to Indonesia from the UK, there are numerous possibilities for finding connecting flights to Indonesia from various other airports in Southeast Asia, and also the Middle East.
Bali (see flights to Bali for further details) and Jakarta are the two most popular destinations in Indonesia, but you should also be able to find one-stop flight connections to most other major cities in the country.

James Says
We are often asked why there aren't any direct flights to Indonesia, and more specifically Bali, from the UK. Although distance is a factor, the main reasoning boils down to commercial practicalities – the UK's two main long-haul specialists, British Airways and Virgin Atlantic don't see any profit in operating Jakarta flights, whereas the Indonesian national airline, Garuda, continues to face financial and regulatory difficulties.
Bali is an extremely popular leisure destination for tourists from within Asia, and also from Australia and New Zealand, but it is simply too far away from the UK for the major tour operators to justify putting on their own charter flights there. As leisure operators continue to move away from heavily competitive short-haul European flights, I wouldn't be surprised to see the likes of Thomson Airways and Monarch offering flights to Indonesia once the economy picks up.
