Flight summary
Biman Bangladesh offer a higher frequency of flights to Dhaka, but these are always routed via a stop off point in the Middle East, usually Dubai.
Connecting flights
There are no flights to Bangladesh from any other European country. However, due to the large numbers of migrant Bangladeshi workers in most of the oil-rich countries of the Arabian Gulf, Bangladesh does have excellent links with this part of the world, enabling connecting flights to Dhaka through cities such as Dubai and Bahrain.
Additionally, there are also a few non-stop flights between the Middle East and Bangladesh's second city of Chittagong.
Reaching other parts of Bangladesh
Although the distances between cities in Bangladesh are relatively small, the country's geography is dominated by the Ganges delta, making it prone to frequent flooding, and therefore making it difficult to build and maintain any kind of transport infrastructure. Although there is an extensive rail network within Bangladesh, with links to neighbouring India also opening up the possibility of reaching Bangladesh through Kolkata, taking a short internal flight can cut out a great deal of hassle. In addition to regular flights between Dhaka and Chittagong, internal flights are also available to Sylhet, Cox's Bazar, Jessore, Rajshahi, Barisal and Saidpur.
