The flagcarrier of Thailand flies to some 71 destinations in 34 countries from its primary base as Suvarnabhumi Airport, otherwise known as (New) Bangkok International. The airlines roster is dominated by longer-haul flights, although since the discontinuation of its Bangkok-New York service in 2008 due to rising fuel costs Los Angeles has been left as its only US destination.
Ambitious development plans are set to be actioned over the coming decade and a half, but feedback forums suggest the majority believe customer service more than lives up to the companys motto smooth as silk. Silk handkerchiefs, possibly, since among the awards Thai has garnered theres a special World Health Organisation gong for excellence in in-flight hygiene. Freeloading germs beware.
