Transportes Aéreos Portugueses (Portuguese Air Transportations), if you were wondering although, granted, it isnt quite as catchy as the acronym TAP. The national airline of Portugal was founded in 1945, and now flies to 69 destinations in 31 countries from Lisbons Portela Airport a base that leaves TAP uniquely well placed to serve Africa (an area of continual expansion for the company in recent years), the Azores, and Latin America.

TAP operates a two-tier system Top Executive and Economy Class on board its fleet. Feedback suggests executives get the better deal, permitted full run of Lisbons superlative business lounge. Yet while most are happy with TAP cabin staff, attention to detail in the air clearly leaves much to be desired: inflight entertainment has proved fitful, and the food is rated absolutely tasteless, one traveller deeming it the worst business class food ever received on any airline. Highlights of this menu from hell include lukewarm and excessively fatty meats, soggy fruit crème tartlet of unidentifiable contents [fruit and cream, surely? Ed.] and a particular favourite strange hot sandwich. In other words, pack your own lunch.
