Airline Profile

Delivered into the world in 2002, this low-cost subsidiary of BMI flies to a range of European holiday and city-break destinations.

On 3rd May, bmibaby announced that, as a result of ongoing talks due to being taken over by IAG group (British Airways parent), they would be winding down operations as follows:

  • No more flights from Belfast City will operate after 11th July 2012.
  • On this date, bmibaby will also cease operations on 7 of its high profile routes from East Midlands to Amsterdam, Paris, Geneva, Nice, Edinburgh, Glasgow and Newquay
  • Additionally, flights from Birmingham to Knock and Amsterdam will also cease on this date.

All other flights will end by 10th September.

Considering that the airline has now announced dates to end operations, a number of seats have become available at discounted prices.

We advise caution when booking these seats.

For travel within the next few weeks, especially before mid June, you are unlikely to experience any problems. However, if you book flights in late August or early September, these is a very real risk that these routes may be wound down early as the airline ends its operations.

Customers who have booked seats on cancelled flights will be entitled to a refund on the ticket cost only, but the airline has no obligation beyond this to find alternative flights or to cover losses from accommodation or surface travel bookings, including car hire.
