Air India

Airline Profile

Founded in 1932 as Tata Airlines, the Indian flagcarrier has a rich heritage not for nothing does it fly under the motto Your Palace in the Sky. Yet even royalty has had cause to tighten its belt in these straitened times: while Air India has committed itself to maintaining and strengthening operations from its main Delhi hub, those of its secondary Mumbai hub, and of its European base at Frankfurt International through which the airline traditionally served the growing Indian expat community are being phased out.

Despite these enforced cutbacks, service in the air appears to have been maintained at an acceptable level, with occasional hiccups:
online feedback suggests in-flight entertainment is limited for a long-haul carrier, so best bring Bollywood bonanzas of your own.

@Jodatu You wouldn't want 3 stations in Birmingham serving #HS2 - also, double deck, 400m long trains not compatible with classic track

@Jodatu You could make that argument about any central station or hub airport. Reality is, origin + connection passengers justify both
