Profile:
Following the demise of Nigeria Airways, Virgin Nigeria are the de-facto national airline of Nigeria, much to the chagrin of the existing domestic and regional airlines. Virgin Nigeria is owned jointly by the Virgin Group, Singapore Airlines (who also own 49% of Virgin Atlantic), local Nigerian investors and the Nigerian government.

At present, Virgin Nigeria operate twice-daily flights to Lagos from London Gatwick, having moved their operations over from London Heathrow, where slots are much more tightly restricted. Virgin Nigeria also operate a number of domestic and regional routes from their hub in Lagos, with new flights to Kano having recently started.
Note that the Virgin Atlantic recently cancelled all their direct flights from London to the oil centre of Port Harcourt, giving their passengers the option of transferring to Virgin Nigeria connecting flights through Lagos instead. It is also worth noting that demand far outweighs supply on all flights to Nigeria from the UK, so we advise booking well in advance.
