Northwest are one of the US carriers which are currently trying to reorganise themselves after entering bankruptcy proceedings. Northwest used to offer flights from London Gatwick to New York, with their route to Minneapolis also facing the chop last year. Their flights from London Gatwick to Detroit look safer the time being. Northwest are closely linked with Dutch airline KLM, and their bulky red and grey MD11's are a familiar sight at Amsterdam's Schiphol airport. With KLM providing a huge range of feeder flights from across the UK, there is a good chance that any onward connections to the USA from Amsterdam will be with Northwest.
