Why fly with KLM?

One of the main reasons for KLM being so popular with passengers in the UK is that they offer flights to some 400 destinations worldwide through their main hub at Amsterdam Schiphol airport.  KLM have more inward feeder flights from UK regional airports than any other European airline, and even where they face competition for point to point flights to Amsterdam, KLM usually carry many more passengers, due to offering a much higher frequency of service than any of their rivals.

KLM and Amsterdam

The combination of the generally high service standards of KLM, and the user-friendliness of their Amsterdam hub (an unsurpassed level of facilities compared to any other European airport, with everything being under one roof), ensures that KLM arguably have the strongest brand of any non-UK based European airline.

Why not?

Our own user experiences of KLM have been extremely positive, but cost-cutting measures in recent years have led some passengers to complain about a decline in the level of service. KLM's long-standing alliance with struggling US-based carrier Northwest might be a cause of concern to some passengers, especially as it is Northwest, rather than KLM, who operate the vast majority of flights between Amsterdam and the USA. KLM's fleet includes a number of older Fokker regional jets and turboprops, many of which are used on the airline’s UK routes. However, for long haul flights, where comfort tends to be much more important, KLM have also been investing heavily in fleet upgrades, currently favouring the Boeing 777 for their high profile routes.
