Flights to Virginia - overview
The major airport serving the state is Washington's Dulles International, which is situated near Reston, Virginia. There is plenty of competition for flights from London to Washington Dulles, but attempts to develop more flight routes to Washington from outside London have so far proved less successful. Much of northern Virginia is part of the Washington DC commuter belt, with Washington's Reagan National airport also being another alternative arrival point.
Most of the other major cities in Virginia, such as Roanoke, Lynchburg, Charlottesville and Richmond, all have a good range of connecting flight links through Washington DC and other major northeast hub airports like Philadelphia International, New York JFK or New York Newark. The same applies for the Norfolk/Newport News area - note that Norfolk (ORF) and Newport News (PHF) each have their own airports.
