Independent travel to Florida
Florida is not all about package holidays, and there are plenty of opportunities for independent and budget travel throughout the state, although these tend to be more heavily focused around Miami than they are further north.
Miami is certainly perfectly easy to get around without a car, and there are a couple of notable backpacker hostels in Miami Beach, as well as a host of outstanding independent hotels. From here, daytrip excursions, or longer sorties to major attractions such as the Florida Keys and the Everglades National Park can easily be arranged.
