Northwest airlines have just announced plans to start flights to Hartford from Amsterdam, with partner airline KLM providing numerous feeder opportunities from various airports throughout the UK. Options for local connecting flights to Hartford from other airports within the USA are much more limited, but the city can also be easily reached by road and rail from either New York or Boston. A surface transfer from New York's Newark airport, which is also served by flights from a wide range of UK regional departure points, is a convenient option if you don’t want to take a connecting flight via Amsterdam. A couple of low-cost options worth looking into include Flyglobespan's new flights from Liverpool to New York JFK, and from Glasgow to Boston, which are both starting in time for the 2007 summer season.
