Again, as with its internal flight network, Southampton's range of flights to Europe is dominated by Flybe, although there are also flights to Brussels provided by Eastern Airways, with Scot Airways competing against Flybe on flights from Southampton to Amsterdam. The network of charter flights from Southampton is extremely limited, with most operators choosing to use Bournemouth instead. This is partly because Bournemouth has a longer runway, giving it more flexibility to deal with the larger aircraft favoured by charter airlines, and also because Bournemouth charges lower handling fees than Southampton. Bournemouth is a base for the budget airline Thomsonfly and the holiday airline Palmair, with a small number of additional destinations being served by airlines such as Ryanair (Girona), Air Berlin (Paderborn) and Easyjet Switzerland (Geneva).
