Manchester offers an extensive network of flights to Ireland, with just about every airport in the Republic being covered. Whilst competition on Manchester to Dublin flights is particularly intense, passengers only have a choice of one airline on all other destinations.
Despite regular digs at Manchester airport management, Ryanair launched new cheap flights to Shannon in February 2006, complementing the airline’s well established and lucrative Dublin route.
Although there are no longer any flights from Manchester to Londonderry, Manchester is one of several UK airports to have competition between Flybe offering flights to Belfast City, and another budget airline offering flights to Belfast International - in this case BmiBaby. It is also still worth checking out Ryanair’s cheap flights to Ireland from Liverpool, from where it currently operates four routes to the Emerald Isle.
