Manchester's long-haul flight route network is by far away the most comprehensive of any European regional airport. The city has a particularly strong network of flights to Asia (perhaps with the exception of India), and numerous direct links with North American cities, including no less than four airlines competing to offer flights from Manchester to New York. The first regular scheduled flights from Manchester to South Africa start later this year, with Flyglobespan offering three weekly flights to Cape Town. If you are unable to find a direct flight from Manchester, there are numerous possibilities for connections through London, or various other hub cities. The option of taking flights from Manchester to Asia, Australia and New Zealand via the Arabian Gulf is proving to be increasingly popular, with Emirates (Dubai), Etihad (Abu Dhabi) and Qatar Airways (Doha) all having stepped up their Manchester services in recent months. Manchester also has a huge network of long-haul charter flights.
