Airport Parking at Gatwick Airport

Gatwick offers perhaps the widest choice of airport parking options of any UK airport. Whether you're looking for a convenient multi-storey car park right next to the terminal, a hotel and parking deal, or discounted off-airport parking, Gatwick airport offers a plethora of choices for the departing traveller. However, the majority of Gatwick airport parking is in the sprawling surface car park which spreads out behind the Gatwick airport station, and which is reputedly the largest car park in Europe. One thing to bear in mind when looking for Gatwick airport parking is the frequency of shuttle bus connections from your car park to the airport terminals. It should also be noted that a lot of the surface parking at Gatwick is closer to the south terminal, although you can easily reach the north terminal via the people mover link.

Can I leave my car at home, or am I better off parking it at Gatwick airport?

Gatwick airport has excellent public transport access, with a much wider choice of train services than Heathrow or Stansted. Additionally, National Express coaches provide links to Gatwick from numerous parts of the UK, although this often means a cumbersome journey around the bowels of Heathrow airport before finally getting to Gatwick. Although there are trains running throughout the night between Gatwick and Victoria, it is not so easy to get to and from Gatwick airport by train from other parts of the UK early in the morning or late at night. A Gatwick airport hotel and parking deal might be much better value than taking an uncomfortable overnight coach. The hassle of having to drag bags through central London can often be avoided by taking advantage of First Capital Connect (formerly Thameslink) through trains to King's Cross and Bedford, or connecting trains via Reading.

Bottlenecks to watch out for near Gatwick airport

Road access to Gatwick airport is generally much easier than it is to other London airports, with a direct spur from the M23 providing a smooth link to the north and south terminals.
