A substantial choice of cheap flights to Ireland is available from Liverpool, largely courtesy of Ryanair. Although the no-frills airline has recently axed its Liverpool to Kerry flights, Ryanair still offer regular flights to Ireland’s main three airports of Dublin, Shannon and Cork, as well as to Londonderry in Northern Ireland. Meanwhile, Easyjet’s high-frequency of flights from Liverpool to Belfast has virtually extinguished competition from Flybe, which has all but retreated on its Liverpool to Belfast City route. Any other airline executives planning on launching cheap flights to Ireland from Liverpool beware! Aer Lingus’ flights from Liverpool to Dublin, and last year’s Waterford route from Aer Arran both lasted just one season.
