Regular flights to Edinburgh are available from most major airports in the UK and Ireland. Generally, airlines tend to offer similar services to Edinburgh and Glasgow, but there are a number of key domestic routes which are available to the Scottish capital, but not Glasgow - including Scot Airways' frequent shuttle flights to London City (also complemented by BA Connect), and BMI Baby’s flights to Birmingham. The only real loser so far has been Liverpool, which saw Flybe's attempts to run twice daily flights between Merseyside and Edinburgh get dropped soon after starting. Apart from Leeds, there are no other airports in the Northeast of England with flights to Edinburgh; this is largely because excellent rail alternatives are available instead.
