The Scottish capital offers a reasonable choice of cheap flights to Ireland, courtesy of all three Irish scheduled carriers. Whilst there is direct competition on the Dublin route between Aer Lingus and Ryanair, passengers looking for cheap flights to Shannon can also now benefit from Ryanair’s recent frequency increases on this service.If you are unable to find a decently priced flight to Ireland from Edinburgh, then there isn’t really much point in looking at Glasgow International as an alternative, although if you don’t mind going down to Prestwick, you might find a cheaper deal from there with either Aer Arran or Ryanair. It is always worth remembering that Prestwick airport passengers can benefit from half price return tickets from any station in Scotland. Although the journey time is a little bit longer, you will probably be better off taking the train from Edinburgh via Glasgow Central, rather than using the shuttle train and cumbersome bus transfer through Queen Street.
