Edinburgh flights:
In the last few years, Edinburgh has seen the launch of two major long-haul scheduled routes, courtesy of Continental Airlines (New York Newark) and Delta (Atlanta). Emirates, who offer flights from Glasgow to Dubai, have strongly hinted they are interested in adding additional capacity on their Scottish flights, although it is not clear yet whether this would mean an increased frequency from Glasgow, or new flights from Edinburgh to Dubai. A limited number of long-haul charter flights from Edinburgh are also available, but there is a much wider choice from Glasgow, from where budget airline Flyglobespan have recently started daily flights to Orlando. Flyglobespan will also be starting flights from Glasgow to Barbados, Boston and Las Vegas next year, but the airline does not appear to have any current plans to start long-haul flights from Edinburgh beyond the Toronto flights which they have launched from numerous other UK airports to support parent company Globespan's Canadian tour operation. Plenty of options are available for making connections through other European airports such as Amsterdam or Paris, or alternatively via New York or Atlanta in the USA. |
