Edinburgh Airport Parking

Parking at Edinburgh airport can be a bit of a hassle, due to the limited availability of space on site, together with the huge pressures on nearby land which developments at South Gyle, Edinburgh Park and the Royal Bank of Scotland's international headquarters at Gogarburn have created. However, much of this pressure has recently been relieved with the opening of a new multi-storey car park directly outside the terminal. A number of lower cost parking options are available on the main airport access road, between the A8 and the terminal itself, or within the site of the neighbouring Ingliston showground. Some of the Edinburgh airport hotels also offer parking deals, although these aren't as widely available as they are at Glasgow airport, which has a much wider choice of hotels near the terminal buildings.
Can I leave my car at home, or am I better off parking it at Edinburgh airport?
Edinburgh airport has excellent public transport access from the city itself, with a number of new bus links also having been developed to locations further afield. If you are travelling to Edinburgh airport from outside the Lothian region, then the public transport options are not usually so good, especially for early-morning flights. Even during the daytime, most public transport from the north and west of Scotland will take you into the centre of the city, rather than directly to the airport.
Bottlenecks to watch out for near Edinburgh airport
During peak hours, traffic on the Forth Road Bridge can cause serious tailbacks. The Gogar roundabout (A8 / A720) to the east of Edinburgh is also a notorious local bottleneck.
