Cardiff airport has had mixed fortunes over the last few years, but the overall outlook is still very positive. The collapse of Air Wales in April has seen BMI Baby strengthen their domestic network at Cardiff, with Eastern Airways also now running flights from Cardiff to Newcastle and Aberdeen. BMI Baby look unlikely to announce any new routes in the near future, whilst Ryanair's attempt to use bullying tactics to get Cardiff airport to lower its handling fees backfired spectacularly, resulting in Aer Arann replacing them to operate the popular Cardiff to Dublin route. Aer Arran have also opened up flights to Cork and Galway from Cardiff.
