Bristol - Domestic flights summary:
Only a decade ago, domestic flights from Bristol used to be pretty much the exclusive domain of the wealthy business traveller, but the arrival of Go, who were then superseded by Easyjet, has truly democratised regional flying. Easyjet has built up a relatively high frequency of flights from Bristol to other major UK cities such as Belfast in Northern Ireland, Edinburgh and Glasgow in Scotland and Newcastle. Although Flybe has all but retreated to nearby Exeter, where they maintain a near monopolistic position, the airline does still offer flights from Bristol to Belfast City and Jersey. Air Southwest have also provided useful links between northern English cities like Manchester or Leeds and Bristol. The recently re-branded British Airways offshoot, BA Connect, has fought back against its budget rival Easyjet by maintaining high frequencies on its Bristol to Scotland shuttle flights, and becoming slightly more price competitive. Eastern Airways has also provided a few niche routes, aimed largely at business travellers, to destinations such as Aberdeen.
