Blackpool - Domestic flights summary:
Blackpool is the closest commercial airport to the Isle of Man, and has always offered a good frequency of flights to Ronaldsway. British Northwest Airlines currently offer flights to Belfast City via the Isle of Man, with Jet2 also providing a direct connection to Belfast International airport from Blackpool. With Virgin Trains having long since stopped offering direct rail services from London to Blackpool, Ryanair now operate popular twice daily flights from Blackpool to London Stansted, supplementing their well established flights to Dublin. Attempts to launch other domestic flights from Blackpool have so far proved to be less successful. Although Blackpool has seen a huge recent expansion in its range of European flights, much of which has been on the back of overcrowding in Manchester and now Liverpool, it will be harder for airlines to establish more domestic flights into Blackpool, because most users on these short routes are business passengers who expect a high-frequency of service, and there are few regional UK destinations which would support this.
