Belfast City - Domestic flights summary:
George Best Belfast City offers a much wider range of domestic flights than Belfast international. Domestic flights from Belfast City are heavily dominated by the regional airline Flybe, although Ryanair has recently opened up intense competition by making Belfast City one of its smaller bases. All of Ryanair's flights from Belfast City operate across the Irish Sea to destinations in either England (London Stansted, East Midlands, Bristol and Liverpool) or Scotland (Glasgow Prestwick). Whereas Ryanair tend to offer a strategy of high frequency on limited routes, and intensive price competition; Flybe offer a massive range of destinations which stretches from Exeter and Newquay in the south of England to as far as Inverness and Aberdeen in the north of Scotland. Flybe is also the only airline to offer flights to Wales from Belfast City, with regular services to Cardiff, whereas other domestic destinations available from Belfast City include the Isle of Man and Jersey.
Passengers looking for shuttle flights to London can also take advantage of the high frequency BMI flights into Heathrow, which now compete against Aer Lingus' flights between Belfast International and Heathrow. This is in addition to Ryanair's no-frills flights from Belfast City to Stansted, which replaced a route previously operated by Air Berlin, together with Flybe's flights into Gatwick. Easyjet also offer cheap flights to London (Luton, Gatwick and Stansted) from Belfast International. As a general rule, domestic flights from Belfast City operate at a higher frequency, and use smaller aircraft, compared with those which are available from Belfast International, although this certainly isn't always the case, especially with flights operated by BMI and Ryanair.
