Although Belfast city airport might offer the best choice of Northern Irish airport when it comes to flights within the British Isles, Belfast international airport takes over when it comes to flights to mainland Europe. The only destinations served by regular year-round scheduled flights from Belfast city airport is Paris (Charles de Gaulle) -- a route operated by main base player Flybe, who also operate weekly flights to Rennes in western France.
Connections
In many cases, a direct flight from Belfast international airport will make much more sense than a flight connection from Belfast city. If this option is not available, there we generally advise looking at direct flights from Dublin, before looking at indirect flights from Belfast city airport. If none of these options is particularly viable, but the main connection point for onward flights from Belfast city airport is London Heathrow, which is served by a high-frequency shuttle route operated by BMI. Other onward connections are available courtesy of Flybe, either through one of their many other UK regional hubs, or through their link to Paris, which is served by various other network carriers. For some of the more niche European destinations, you might also want to consider making your own DIY connections through Stansted with Ryanair, but we will always suggest allowing plenty of time between flights if you do this, as budget airlines do not take any responsibility for missed connections.
