The vast majority of cheap flights to Turkey from the UK operate to the popular holiday resorts such as Dalaman, Izmir, Bodrum and Antalya. Scheduled flights to Istanbul are available from both London and Manchester, but so far, none of the major budget airlines have shown any interest in operating flights to Turkey from the UK.
The market for cheap flights to Turkey is very different in Germany, which has a large Turkish population. Regular direct flights to both Istanbul and the capital Ankara are available from several German cities, with some budget minded travellers choosing to make their own connections through Germany to get to Turkey.

Mini guide to Turkey
As a key intercontinental stepping stone, Turkey finds itself between Iraq and a hard place. (Well, Bulgaria.) The country’s position on the furthest reaches of Europe and the Gulf means Turkey makes for a potent, initially off-putting mix of influences: Eastern European austerity gets muddled up with Middle Eastern conviction and fervour, with the curious spires puncturing the Istanbul skyline the most striking illustration of how greatly religion looms in everyday Turkish life.
Yet this is a country with a surprisingly vast and (unless you’re a footballer competing in the early rounds of the Intertoto or UEFA Cup) generally unexplored interior. Ironically, you may find that one of rival Greece’s many holiday islands - Kos, Lesbos or Rhodes - provides a good launch pad from which to explore, or at least poke one’s head over this particular neighbour’s fence. The Bosphorus and Dardenelles offer stunning natural views, and Gallipoli the historical interest. For a taste of the unknown, you won’t do too much better than to sample the real Turkish delight.
