Situated just over 1800 miles from London, Tenerife has traditionally been the stomping ground of the mainstream charter airlines, with the busiest routes supplemented by higher frequency services from the likes of Thomsonfly and Monarch Scheduled.
The first true no-frills flights to Tenerife were pioneered by airlines such as Jet2 and Flyglobespan, with Ryanair having initially come onto the scene last year by starting cheap flights to Tenerife North from Dublin. Ryanair’s Tenerife flights are moving to Tenerife South late in 2007, and they are also starting cheap Tenerife flights from Liverpool and East Midlands. Ryanair's fierce rivals Aer Lingus also operate cheap flights to Tenerife from both Dublin and Cork.
Meanwhile, British Airways franchise partner GB Airways had a rather ill-fated attempt at offering flights to Tenerife from Bristol and East Midlands, before retreating back to Gatwick and Manchester, where they are much more firmly established.
You should have no problem finding cheap flights to Tenerife from your local airport, although demand, and corresponding prices, tends to fluctuate quite dramatically throughout the year. Naturally, flights to Tenerife are particularly popular in December, when other Mediterranean destinations are less able to guarantee decent weather.
