Although the availability of cheap flights to Murcia has increased dramatically in recent years, there is still generally more availability on flights to Alicante, especially if you're travelling from regional airports outside London. The two airports are only about an hour's drive from each other, but public transport links at Murcia airport are very poor. Despite Murcia's proximity to the exclusive La Manga resort, British Airways franchise partner GB Airways has stopped operating Murcia flights, in the face of strong competition from both Easyjet and Ryanair.
