You mention using Vienna as a way of getting to Bratislava. How do I get from Bratislava airport to the Austrian capital?

  The details of public transport from Bratislava Airport are here - http://www.airport-bratislava.sk/en/arriving-by-public-transport.html - although I have looked up the three providers mentioned, and can't find any evidence that this bus currently runs. The journey should be about 70 minutes to Vienna direct. You can certainly take a bus to the centre of Bratislava, taking around 25 minutes, and then a bus or train from here to Vienna. The bus will set you back €7.70, and takes about 90 minutes. The train will take just under an hour.
  
  If you go this way, I would take advantage of the opportunity to spend at least a few hours in Bratislava aswell.
