Flight Summary

Ryanair is the only airline to operate flights to Cuneo from the UK. The no-frills carriers runs ski flights during the winter season. Cuneo Airport is located ten miles north of Cuneo. Buses to the ski resorts of Limone Piemonte and PratoNevoso/Artesina will coincide with Ryanair's flights. A bus to Turin's main station (Lingotto) will also link with every flight. The journey to Turin takes about an hour depending on traffic. Taxis to Cuneo take about 15 minutes and cost around ¬30 (£24).

Cuneo is an elegant provincial capital in the Piedmont region of northwest Italy well known for its Renaissance style arcaded main street lined with shops and cafes. The old centre dates from the 12th century when it was a fortified town. Cuneo straddles the Stura di Demonte River and is located close to the Maritime Alps. Ski resorts in the area include Artesina, Limone Piemonte, Prato Nevoso, Sestriere and Vars-Risoul.

@Jodatu High speed should be just that - limited stop (which hs2 is), stations that provide onward connections (which hs2 does very poorly)

@Jodatu You wouldn't want 3 stations in Birmingham serving #HS2 - also, double deck, 400m long trains not compatible with classic track

@Jodatu You could make that argument about any central station or hub airport. Reality is, origin + connection passengers justify both
