Flights to Iceland - Overview
Whether as a destination in its own right, or as the ultimate stopover on the way to the USA, Iceland is one of Europe's best kept secrets, though flights to Iceland have been available from many years - in fact, Icelandair recently celebrated 60 years of offering flights from Glasgow to Reykjavik. Icelandair have launched new flights from Manchester to Reykjavik, whereas British Airways also started their first flights to Iceland last summer. No-frills competition is additionally available from Stansted, courtesy of Iceland Express. International flights to Iceland arrive at Keflavik airport, which is around 25 miles away from the capital Reykjavik. Don't be fooled by European maps which often include Iceland as a small inset – it is around the same size as Ireland, and harsh weather conditions can make driving slow. With this in mind, it might not be so surprising that there is a well-established network of internal flights to the more remote corners of Iceland. These operate from Reykjavik domestic airport, which is just two miles away from the centre of Reykjavik. There are regular bus transfers between Reykjavik’s airports.
We hope that you have found this information about flights to Iceland useful.
