James Says

Flights to Stuttgart are available from a mix of traditional scheduled and no-frills airlines. Direct flights operate from the main business centres of London, Birmingham and Manchester. From other parts of the UK, it is usually easier to find flights to Frankfurt, and then to continue on to Stuttgart overland. A regular direct train service is available between Frankfurt International Airport and the centre of Stuttgart. Considering that Stuttgart Airport itself is at the end of a winding suburban train route half-an-hour out of town, the option of going through Frankfurt instead is worth investigating if you cannot find decent availability or prices on direct flights to Stuttgart.

@Jodatu High speed should be just that - limited stop (which hs2 is), stations that provide onward connections (which hs2 does very poorly)

@Jodatu You wouldn't want 3 stations in Birmingham serving #HS2 - also, double deck, 400m long trains not compatible with classic track

@Jodatu You could make that argument about any central station or hub airport. Reality is, origin + connection passengers justify both
